As we are looking forward to what 2021 has to offer, here are a few ideas on how you can have fun outdoors that is safe and eco-friendly. Here at Eco Boat Rentals, we say play with purpose. We always have the planet in mind, and you can see that when you rent with us. To kickoff 2021, we share our favorite eco-friendly outdoor activities in San Diego.
1. Neighborhood Clean Up

An easy and fun eco activity that everyone can do is a cleanup! Pick up trash by yourself, with family members, or do a virtual cleanup with friends. Organizations like Don’t Trash PB are offering pickup sets that include a reusable bucket and picker. You can score this pickup set for free after three cleanups; learn more about the program on Don’t Trash PB’s Instagram.
2. Go On A Hike

Take in the spectacular views from any of the five peaks at Mission Trails Regional Park! This park features 40 miles of trails, so you’ll always have something new to explore. Beyond hiking, you can enjoy one of the many eco-activities at Mission Trails Regional Park, like walking, mountain biking, bird watching, and rock climbing.
3. Visit A Botanical Garden

Walk around and connect with plants and nature at the San Diego Botanic Garden, located in North County. With four miles of trail, you’ll have plenty of time to explore and learn about the thousands of plant species. Learn more about Covid-19 safety measures at the Garden by visiting their website.
4. Pedal On Water with Eco Boat Rentals

Enjoy an afternoon on the water with Eco Boat Rentals and experience our eco pedal boats. The eco pedal boats are kid, senior, and pet friendly as the capacity is up to 4 people. You can also ask the Eco Boat Rental staff for a reusable net and help clean up any trash you see in the water as a bonus eco activity!
5. Play A Round Of Disc Golf

Morley Field Disc Golf Course is a destination course right in our backyard! The course is challenging with many trees and challenging pin placements. Challenge yourself or have fun trying to disc golf at Morley Field Disc Golf Course during the weekdays or weekends. They even have an Instagram page for all their dogs who visit; how cute!
6. Volunteer Your Time

From volunteering from home to donating items to an on-site food sorting project, you can do good in the community during this time. A nonprofit organization making volunteering easy is HandsOn San Diego, with its updated volunteer opportunity calendar and resources.
7. Ride A Bike

Riding a bike is not only a healthy and eco-friendly activity but can get you where you want to go! Visit a new neighborhood, go to the park, visit a farmers market all by bike. A great resource is our local San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, where you can find information about bike routes, guides, popular recreational rides, and more!
8. Go On A Self-Guided Mural Tour

Did you know La Jolla has over 15 murals? It’s true and the organizers created a self-guided mural tour that you can enjoy at your own pace. Download the tour map and have fun learning about each mural and taking those Instagram photos!
